Personally, my time at the University of Arizona was a disappointment. The coach who recruited me retired after my freshman year, I had a difficult time adjusting to the new environment, and for various reasons my times didn't come down nearly as much as I had hoped. However, the four years I spent there were a great learning experience. Although I thought my running career was over when I graduated, coaching at Lowell High School helped reignite the flame that lay dormant inside me. I've realized that I am a runner--there is no escaping it. The years of hardship, depression, and disappointment fuel my fire. |
