What is 234?
234 refers to two hundred and thirty four seconds, or 3 minutes and 54 seconds. This is my goal for the mile. To follow my progress, go to the blog.
Short-term plan:
Base training. Every building has a foundation, and the taller the building, the stronger the foundation necessary to support the structure. At this point, I need to build the biggest base I've ever built.
Short-term goals:
I will continue to run everyday, focusing to running an hour everyday and maintaining 300 miles per month until my trip to Japan in July 2008.
Long-term plan:
Stay healthy and train consistently. Injuries caused by impatience and immaturity hampered my progress in the past. If I keep moving in the right direction, eventually I will reach my goals, but I need to avoid setbacks at all costs. Doing the same thing only leads to the same results, so I need to take a difference approach. Specifically, I had a tendency to over-train in the past, so if I start under-estimating, I'm more likely to make a more realistic assessment.
Long-term goals:
Set PRs (Personal Records) in every event between 400 meters and the marathon by 10/1/08. Current Personal bests are as follows:
400m: 51 seconds
800m: 1:52
1500m: 3:51
Mile/(1600m): 4:06.24 (4:04)
2 miles/3000m: Not exactly sure, but I would consider anything under 9:20 a new personal best. This shouldn't be very difficult once I am in shape, but I think you can tell how I feel about this event from the fact that I don't know my PR.
5000m: 15:20 (again, this should not be particularly difficult once I am in shape.)
10000m: 31:30 This is one of my proudest achievements because I ran this time on a cross country course in below freezing temperature. As you can see it is barely slower than my 5k PR multiplied by 2. I might have a bit of trouble beating this one.
Half Marathon: 1 hour, 12 minutes
Marathon: 3 hours, 8 minutes I've only run this event once for fun. This time shouldn't be very difficult to beat, either.
